President's Message
Robert J. O’Donnell, D.D.S.
I
am excited and honored to serve as your President for 2007-2008. We
have so many members who have graciously volunteered their time and talent
for the betterment of our organization and to work for you. We have over
1300 members in the Northern District and we need everyone to make a commitment
to give of themselves to make our District the best it can be. If we
did think of the possibilities.
This year we will continue our tradition of excellent continuing education
with up to date information from outstanding clinicians. These
courses will be geared towards ideas and techniques we can all utilize
in our offices the very next day. Most courses will be held
at Villa Christina as they have the past year, but we will also have a
course in Gainesville and in the South Metro. Our Staff Appreciation
Lecture will be in May and will feature Dr. Roger Levin from Baltimore,
Maryland.
In November the Georgia Dental Association officers will attend our district
meeting and will present the statewide issues and plans for the coming
year. We will meet at Villa Christina for dinner and a presentation
from our GDA President, Dr. Donna Moses. Also in November we will
have our second annual Legislative night. We will invite the district
Representatives and Senators and socialize with us at Druid Hills Golf
Club. This is an excellent way to get to know our representatives
prior to LAW Days during the 2008 session. According to all GDA surveys
the most important benefit of membership is the legislative advocacy that
is provided by Martha Phillips and the GDA staff. It is important
to make our presence felt at the capital with the participation in LAW
days and the support of our Dentists Senators.
Our District is the “Greater Atlanta Dental Society” and we
represent the largest organized group of Dentists in the state. We
intend to be at the forefront of the issues and pledge to advocate on behalf
of our membership. Involvement is the key to having our voices heard. Greater
numbers carry greater weight on the issues. Our goal is to allow
you to continue to practice dentistry in the manner you choose with the
least amount of intrusion.
Please be involved. As Dentists you can keep your gloves wet and
your heads down for your entire career, but giving back to your profession
with your time is the right thing to do. Call one of the officers
or delegates and ask what you can do or when the next event is. I
look forward to serving you and please call me any time.
Robert J. O’Donnell, D.D.S.
President
